Lost & Found Property

The Coach & Horses accepts no responsibility for private property whilst on the premises including accepting any liability including should lost property be returned for any reason to someone who is not the owner.  Property that is left on the premises will be kept for a period of 1 month, after which it will be disposed of.  Any found passports or driving licenses will not be returned to a member of the public but will be handed to Boston Police Station.  Valuable property will be kept securely in a locked safe.  A detailed description of the item and proof of identity will be required when reclaiming.

Safeguarding & Vulnerable Persons

As a business we want to ensure all of our customers can enjoy our facilities free from harm and we are committed to protecting the most vulnerable in society by ensuring that if we are worried about someone's safety our staff are equipped to deal with it.

Glass Collection

Our focus is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all users.  All members of staff will proactively collect glasses.  Any unattended drinking vessels will be collected.

Crime & Disorder

It is our legal obligation to ensure that we prevent crime & disorder on our premises.  As a business we value our reputation, care for our customers & staff, want to work in partnership with the statutory authorities and are committed to trading within the law while maintaining the highest possible ethical standards in all our business activities.

Weapons

It is the duty of the Landlord/Landlady to create a safe environment for customers & staff and uphold the licensing objectives especially in relation to prevention of crime and disorder and public safety when considering offensive weapons.  Customers will be prevented from entering the premises with any article we consider to be used as a weapon to cause injury to another person.  This includes knives of any description, knuckle dusters, clubs, coshes, any article made with a blade or sharp edge, certain tools such as Stanley knives, wood chisels, scissors, gas sprays, firearms, replica guns, etc.

Drunkenness & Disorderly Behaviour

It is against the law to knowingly sell alcohol to someone who is drunk or appears to be drunk.  If is also an offence to knowingly buy or obtain alcohol for a drunken person on licensed premises.  It is also against the law to allow people to behave in a disorderly way whilst inside our premises or on the grounds of our premises.  We try to create a positive, friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment.  We train all our staff to ensure they can serve customers as quickly and professionally as possible.  We have 'cut-off' cards which will be given to customers who we deem to have had too much to drink to avoid any embarrassment of being refused service.  Service will be refused to any customer who is or appears to be; drunk, trying to buy a drink for someone who is drunk, acting in a disorderly manner that is related to drunkenness.  

Challenge 25 

Our Challenge 25 policy applies to all age-related sales that occur on our premises.  We will apply our Challenge 25 policy when any customer who looks to be under the age of 25 attempts to purchase alcohol either for themselves or someone else.  It is illegal to sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 18.  I.D. will be checked - acceptable forms of I.D. include a passport, photo driver's license, a 'Pass' approved card from the National Proof of Age Standards Scheme, a British Military I.D. card or a National Identity card.  Only original documents will be accepted.

Dispersal

It is our legal obligation to ensure that we prevent crime & disorder and public nuisance on our premises as people are leaving.  As a business we value our reputation, want to have good relationships with our neighbours, care for our customers, want to work in partnership with the statutory authorities and are committed to trading within the law while maintaining the highest possible ethical standards in all our our business activities.  Half an hour after last orders are called a staff member will visit each group or individual in the premises or the beer garden and will advise them that they should leave as quickly as possible.  Customers will be asked to leave quietly with no open drinks and to move away from the premises as quickly as possible.  

Capacity Management

If our venue is overcrowded it could lead to disorder, increased crime, create public nuisance or result in the crushing of people making customers & staff feel unsafe.  

Drugs

The possession of illegal drugs is a criminal offence and as such is viewed very seriously by us.  We do not permit any employee or customer to take, use, possess, sell or be under the influence of any controlled substance whilst on the premises.  Customers may be subject to ejection, bans and potentially reported to the Police.  We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy when it comes to drugs on our premises.

Customer Searches

Although not standard procedure, it may be necessary to conduct searches of customer's bags and clothing from time to time to prevent crime and disorder and ensure public safety.  Any searches will be conducted by two members of staff.  Permission will always be requested prior to any search taking place.  Customers will be asked to open their own bag/coat and empty out any pockets as requested.

Drink Spiking

Drink spiking is illegal and carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.  Any person thought to have spiked a drink will be immediately ejected from the premises and will not be allowed to return.  If you think your drink has been spiked please speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.

Gambling & Protecting the Vulnerable

To ensure that no persons under the age of 18 are permitted to play on our gambling machines, we abide by the Challenge 25 policy in our premises.  Under this policy, any customer playing a gaming machine who appears to be under the age of 18 will be asked to show valid I.D.  All of our machines are located in well supervised areas fully open to the public at large and are provided by reputable companies.

Noise & Public Nuisance

We have a legal obligation to keep noise levels at a minimum both whilst we have customers on site and during our normal opening hours.  We encourage all our customers to respect the fact that we have neighbours and do everything we can to make sure that, when customers are enjoying themselves or leaving, they understand that any excessive noise or unruly behaviour can have an impact on the local neighbourhood.

Discrimination

Customers do not have the absolute right to seek entry or service in a licensed premises.  Service and entry can be refused if the licensing objectives are likely to be undermined.  Service and entry may also be refused if an individual has previously been involved in incidents in the premises.  A decision to refuse service will never be taken purely as a result of the persons protected characteristics.

Litter Prevention

Our establishment is committed to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all.  Disposal areas are provided for general waste and cigarette butts and we would be grateful if our customers could use these at all times.  In cases of severe or deliberate littering we reserve the right to take further action including legal measures if necessary.

Conflict Management

The Coach & Horses take our legal responsibilities to protect the health, safety and welfare of our staff and customers seriously.  Anyone causing physical violence, verbal abuse or threats and intimidation against any of our staff or customers will be asked to leave immediately and will not be welcome to return.

Checking I.D.

Only original I.D. is acceptable.  We will not accept photocopies/images/apps on phones or out of date I.D.
